NEC has announced an update to its L1 (or N412i, depending on which country you live in) known as the N500iS. While specifications on this new i-Mode handset are scarce at the moment, it seems as though this may only be a basic visual update to the L1, rather than an update of features, though the N500iS will support EDGE wireless data. At least NEC has made an already highly attractive handset even prettier, and knowing the features of the L1, there are a lot worse platforms to start with for a slim phone. It is expected that more details on the NEC N500iS will be made available during 3GSM later this month.
