HP will use Qualcomm's Gobi, while Fujitsu-Siemens will rely on Sierra Wireless's HSPA solution to provide HSPA connectivity in their future laptops. Now, Dell announced a deal with Ericsson to use the Swedish company's mobile broadband modules to "provide the end user with a simple and cost effective solution for broadband access while on-the-go." In addition to the HSPA radio, Ericsson's module also has a GPS receiver, but also uses such technology that takes less power from the battery.

We've been waiting and waiting for HP to finally get real with their iPAQ 900-series Windows Mobile smartphone. Just as we were about to give up on HP's smartphone offering, the HP iPAQ 900 pops up on the FCC's website.
We were expecting the HP iPAQ 910 to get its launch on with AT&T back in September - after getting word on the juicy hardware details of the HP iPAQ 914. With a 2.5 inch 240×320 touchscreen, 3 megapixel camera, A-GPS, WiFi b/g, Google Maps, and all that delicious 850/1900Mhz HSDPA love from AT&T's 3G network, it's going to be hard to wait for the official carrier-launch of the Windows Mobile 6.0-powered HP iPAQ 910.

HP's new iPAQ, the HP iPAQ 900 Series, just got approved by the FCC. Featuring a ton of goodies including GPS, HSDPA support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and more, this is one venerable all-in-one. Called a Business Messenger, the HP iPAQ 900 series is bundled with a Stylus and comes with a 1940 mAh Li-polymer rechargeable battery. For some reason, it is shipped with a wired stereo handset, but hey, it's got Bluetooth, so I'm sure you'll end up buying spankin' wireless ones.
The device features a mini USB interface. One of the nice things about the iPAQ is its QWERTY keyboard. It also features the familiar 5-way navigation key. Running on Windows Mobile 6, the device takes in microSD memory cards for added memory. There's also an on-board 3-megapixel camera with flash.

We got our hands on one of the latest HP phones, the candybar iPAQ 614 (610) Business Navigator. The device is capable of 3G world roaming, as it is quad-band GSM and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA (7.2Mbitps) phone. iPAQ 614 is equipped with a Marvell PXA270 processor, operating at 520 MHz, 256MB ROM and 128MB RAM. The operational system, which the device runs on, is Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional. The unique thing here is the built-in scroll-wheel navigation wheel. Using it in combination with the Enter button, positioned on the side of the screen, you can easily operate the HP phone single-handedly without making use of the stylus or tapping on the 2.8” display. The device has built-in WiFi support and GPS, which makes it quite attractive to business users.

According to a handful of tipsters, after a round of delays, HP has decided to cancel the release of its upcoming Windows Mobile smartphone, the 610 (also known as the iPAQ 614, 614c and 600). The company didn't give a lot of information, though they did state that, "due to recent legal issues between suppliers of mobile phone technologies, HP has decided not to offer the iPAQ 610 Business Navigator to U.S. customers as previously planned." It's unclear whether this means the phone will be missing from shelves worldwide, but it certainly won't be popping up on these shores anytime soon.

It looks like HP is really getting back into the smartphone game in a big way. The HP iPAQ lineup of Windows Mobile 6.0-powered handsets and handhelds are looking pretty good. HP will be launching the HP iPAQ 114, 214, and 314 as a low-end PDA, high-end PDA, and navigation unit, respectively. But, what really interests us are the two WinMo6.0 smartphones - the HP iPAQ 614 and iPAQ 914. We now have some high-quality pics of the smartphone duo to supplement those hazy crap-shots that were floating around earlier.......

Though spec sheet details still haven't been confirmed, the existence of the rumored iPAQ 600 from HP now seems like a sure thing. A spokesman for HP Korea has said that a "third-generation PDA phone, dubbed the iPAQ 600" will launch on multiple Korean carriers later this year, featuring HSDPA, a numeric keypad, and likely a 2.8 inch display. Of course, a Korean launch doesn't....
