Chinese cloning industry is getting faster and faster. We've just spotted their latest product - Diamond J6. As you can see for yourself from the image above, the device in question is almost identical to the real thing, HTC Touch Diamond. It even has the same-sized 2.8-inch touchscreen and that unique Diamond-ish back. Other specs....

We love a good FCC-blessing every now and again. It's always nice to know that the good folks in some non-descript government laboratory are working hard to make sure that the newest and coolest gadgets with radio transmitters don't fry our brains in to oblivion. And, to make sure CDMA users don't get zapped into half-wits, the FCC has just cleared the HTC Touch Diamond for CDMA-duty.

Following on the CDMA HTC Touch Dual's appearance on the FCC's website, as the HTC NEON400, we're hearing that Sprint is lined up to offer the HTC Touch Dual on September 2nd. A leaked Sprint document shows that the No. 3 US wireless carrier is going to offer an "HTC 6950" during the first week of September.

One of the HTC's TouchFLO 3D user interface downsides (which is found on the HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro) is lack of, let's say, serious customization. You can tweak only few things, and sing along HTC's design ideas. Don't get me wrong - I love the TouchFLO 3D, however why they left out additional customization is beyond me. Maybe they've wanted to follow Apple's example? Who knows…

The CDMA market isn't exactly HTC's bread-and-butter market, what with GSM handsets being the way to go for most of the developed world, but that doesn't mean the Taiwanese smartphone maker isn't going to give the US some touchscreen Windows Mobile love. Spotted hanging out with the FCC's laboratory engineers, the HTC NEON400 hints at HTC's CDMA aspirations for the HTC Touch Dual.

Not looking to jump on the iPhone 3G bandwagon next week? AT&T is already a couple steps ahead of you. After all, not everyone is going to find Apple's handset a good fit for their needs.

It looks like HTC's famed Touch successor has been spotted prowling the urban jungle. Amidst the spattering of new touchscreen-toting handsets slated to launch in the next few months, the HTC Touch Diamond has been rumored to be sporting Sprint's coloring.

With T-Mobile having announced their T-Mobile @Home UMA (unlicensed mobile access) service for a July 11 launch, additional UMA handset details are starting to creep out of the woodwork. HTC's original T-Mobile Shadow (basically a re-branded HTC Juno) handset was a success for T-Mobile, and it seems that the No. 4 US wireless carrier is looking to go for a repeat with a Windows Mobile-powered follow-up to the Shadow.

This is about as official as it gets without being officially official. Get my drift? Following on previously leaked, not-quite-final versions of the Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM, the HTC Mogul is getting hooked up with the real-deal WM6.1 ROM.

Reviews of sluggish TouchFLO 3D performance got your HTC Touch Diamond hopes down? Worry not, fellow Diamond-lover, HTC's shipping their hottest new handset in the European market with updated versions of the TouchFLO 3D UI. Don't get us wrong, the TouchFLO 3D interface is a snazzy twist on HTC's Windows Mobile UI overlay, but with performance on HTC Touch Diamond review units leaving room for improvement, it's good to see HTC is on a more proactive tack.

Vodafone may scored some iPhone 3G distribution deals, but in the UK, O2 will still do the iThing. However, the Big Red did manage to get the HTC Touch Diamond and will certainly tout it as the iPhone killer. Scrap that, they're already doing so:

Not exactly the "pure" mobile news but involves an important smartphone maker, HTC, so we're going with it nevertheless. Apparently, the Taiwan-based company is working on a new MID (Mobile Internet Device) products that will use Intel's Atom and Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipset platforms and which will be unveiled during the second half of 2008.

You know what they say. "Loose lips sink ships - or they let slip some seriously exciting news." Such is the case with HTC's Kevin Chen's statement about bringing Windows Mobile 7 to market early next year.

That's right folks, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has been given the grubby once-over by the Boy Genius. As the highest-end, and most anticipated, smartphone in Sony Ericsson's near-term pipeline, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has seen more than its fair share of the light that is lime.

HTC doesn't see the more affordable yet more powerful iPhone 3G as a threat. The company's CEO Peter Chou said Apple's new handset will have "limited impact" on HTC's sales. Mobile operators around the world are offering HTC smartphones with subsidy and most devices are priced bellow $200. Some operators go even further, offering select HTC smartphones for free on a contract.
