Another Wednesday, another high-end handset tear-down. This latest mobile phone dissection comes to us courtesy of YouTube user CyK1. With white gloves in hand (on hand?), CyK1 takes delicate care to pry open a Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 using common household tools - you know, like tweezers and guitar picks.

If you were wondering why Palm just posted another less-than-stellar quarter of earnings despite the runaway success of its Centro line, we think we have the answer: it's been digging into the piggy bank to ice out its gear.

We here at Engadget Mobile tend to spend a lot of way too much time poring over the latest FCC filings, be it on the net or directly on the ol' Federal Communications Commission's site. Since we couldn't possibly (want to) cover all the stuff that goes down there, we've gathered up all the raw info you may want (but probably don't need).

We've been reporting about the upcoming Samsung i788 for quite some time now. We know AT&T will pick it up and market it as the BlackJack III. The Treo-killin' device is actually the i780 model with right frequencies for AT&T's 3G network and will see its U.S. debut somewhere in October this year.

nVidia is known more for their graphics processing prowess than as a mobile processor manufacturer. But, with nVidia's impressive mobile platform demonstration at Mobile World Congress, the GPU-giant took a giant leap in to the mobile space. nVidia showed off their nVidia Tegra Mobile Platform at Mobile World Congress 2008 Barcelona with the nVidia Tegra APX 2500 mobile....

Guess it was expected to see Sony Ericsson releasing the official G702 BeiBei demo video, after they did the same thing for the P5 Paris. Now that I'm thinking, if I needed to guess I would say the BeiBei demo video will be released even earlier — after all, it was the BeiBei and not Paris that was leaked by the FCC

The near-mythical HTC Dream handset has been rumored for longer than we can remember, and we can't wait to get our hands on the device that was once thought to be the Google Phone (gPhone). Alas, we'll have to wait until Google and HTC can work out the niggling details on the Android OS that powers the HTC Dream before we can take a stab at the Dream.

The video starts off like an unassuming promotion for Windows' Live Mesh services. As cool as the prospect of a completely "connected life" is, the real gem in this video is a brief glimpse of the next-generation Windows Mobile. Fast forward to about 00:32 (32 seconds) to get a sneak peak at the next major revamping of Windows Mobile - Windows Mobile 7. Compared to the sliding-pane view on the Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard Today Screen (Home Screen), Windows Mobile 7 looks more like an evolutionary update. Whereas Windows Mobile 6.1 is more of a cosmetic refresh on Windows Mobile (aside from much-welcomed features like threaded SMS text messages), Windows Mobile 7 looks like it has built some more functionality behind the aesthetics. The sneak-peak is too short to really get a feel for WM7, so this is all speculation. But, from what we can see, it

The BlackBerry 9000 is the next greatest thing to come out of Waterloo. With loads of pictures already circulating the interwebs and Blackberry 9000 specs already known, there's not much that we don't know about the curvy handset. Good thing for us, CrackBerry has their own BlackBerry 9000 live and in-hand for an in-depth look at RIM's new user interface. The BlackBerry 9000 sports BlackBerry OS 4.6 and the video below shows off the new UI's slick aesthetic. Menu icons light up as you scroll over them and the display's 480×320 resolution really gives the graphics a shiny, high-end look. And, the faster processor gives BlackBerry OS 4.6 a swiftness that previous BlackBerry handsets lacked.

Peripherals for the iPhone started with a trickle at Apple and AT&T bricks and mortar stores, but are now building to a deluge as the handsets find there way into pockets across the nation. We thought in this "case" it would be somehow "fitting" (see what we did there? two puns in a row, we are off to an illustrious start) that the inaugural Peripheral Vision features what most users will likely....
